The First Annual Hero Awards Gala was billed as the "Most Inspirational Night of the Year" and it lived up to that promise. The entertaining night was hosted by John Anderson and Sheinelle Jones of Good Day Philadelphia on Fox29. Over 100 companies donated auction items for the 160 gala attendees to bid on. The Hero Awards started off with a huge surprise when Mariah Carey walked on stage and sang one of her most popular songs, "HERO". It was announce afterwards that it was actually Laura Pasqualoni the world's only Mariah Carey look-a-like. Dave Girgenti announced the launch of Emmie's Hero, the Foundation's first Individual Program to help an 8 year old girl with DiGeroge Syndrome. Morgan Kaiser sang a moving acoustic version of "Somebody's Hero".
