Operation Return the Favor

Operation Return the Favor will gather necessities for the single soldiers in the units who are returning back to the barracks from deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Founded: In 2006 and assisted efforts by Butler Community College’s Alpha Phi Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honors Society, El Dorado, Kansas.

Goal: To provide a Christmas stocking full of goodies and snacks to each of the 135 single soldiers as a token of thanks.

Program Expense Goal: $3000

Program Expense Details: $270 for stockings (avg. $2 each stocking), $60 for bags of candy (avg. $3 x 20 bags), $1,350 for $10 worth of stocking stuffers or gift card for $10

Program Requirements: Soldiers and units MUST BE coming home from ACTIVE WAR ZONES within a 6 month timeframe.

2008 Program Accomplishments: On December 4, 2008 Operation Return the Favor organized it's annual event. Over 135 soldiers benefited from the festive celebration. The soldiers received handmade patriotic Christmas stockings from member CherishTeddie. WOLF 106.5 Country Radio from Kansas City, MO join the fun along with a surprise appearance from Santa & Mrs. Claus.

Application: Next project is scheduled for spring of 2010.
