Boston Transit Worker Returns Wallet Containing More Than $900 to Passenger

Gaynol Waugh, an employee of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), is being praised for his honesty after finding a wallet containing $912 and returning it to the owner. Waugh had found the wallet on a seat near the front of the bus while he was commuting for training class in Charleston. Upon finding the wallet, Waugh checked the wallet to make sure there was an ID inside and then handed it over to his instructor who then was able to work with directory assistance to track down its rightful owner.
“Whether it be one dollar or a million, it’s not mine and it’s not the right thing to do,” Waugh said of the money. “I’ve always felt that way.”
